Letter of Trade Unions to the Vice-President of the European Commission
The trade unionists from the mines and lignite power plants of the ZE PAK Capital Group addressed a letter to the Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, for aid. The trade unions warn that such a pace of increase in charges for CO2 emissions and the lack of support for commercial power plants using coal mean that the departure from coal in Eastern Greater Poland region may take place within even 5, not 10 years.
The trade unions, jointly with the Management Board of ZE PAK, have developed a project of a program supporting the employees of the ZE PAK CG, which is consistent with the Just Transition Fund (JTF). This program will provide support to the employees of the ZE PAK Capital Group on condition that it is endowed with funds from the Just Transition Fund. Whereas these funds still have not been made available for the needs of financing of the mining regions transformation in Poland.
