Employment path after coal

In January 2024, ZE PAK SA entered into a partnership agreement for the implementation of the Employment path after coal project. The leader of the partnership comprising ten entities is the Regional Labour Office in Poznań.

The Project's objective is to support 2,200 people affected by the consequences of the energy transition in Eastern Greater Poland in order to lead to new employment and maintain the continuity of their new jobs.

The Project is mainly addressed to ZE PAK Capital Group employees at risk of losing their jobs, former employees who have lost their jobs since 2018, and their family members. Moreover, the Project participants may include employees of industries related to the mining and energy sector as well as family members and/or persons running a joint household with the above-mentioned persons who do not have a source of income.

The support for the so-called participants is foreseen through two alternative paths: 1) professional activation aimed at finding a job with a new employer and 2) business incubation in the form of a social enterprise such as a social cooperative or self-employment.

The Project developed by the Partners selected in the competition is to be implemented in accordance with the Employee Programme for GK ZE PAK for the years 2021-2027 – “Employment path after coal”, drafted by the Trade Unions of GK ZE PAK¹ and ZE PAK SA and the Association for Social Cooperatives, in agreement with representatives of the Managing Authority of the Programme "European Funds for Wielkopolska 2021-2027”, the Regional Labour Office in Poznań and the Agencja Rozwoju Regionalnego S. A. (Regional Development Agency) in Konin (which acts as an Intermediate Body in the Programme).

ZE PAK SA, as a Partner in the Project, is responsible for supporting activities in the recruitment of participants, dissemination of information on the benefits of support in the form of incentives for employers interested in employing participants and for participants to set up their own businesses (approximately PLN 150,000 per participant, exceeding many times the amount of commonly used instruments in programmes co-financed from EU funds). In addition, ZE PAK SA's role is to monitor the progress of the Project and the activities carried out by the other Partners and to ensure the participation of the Trade Unions of the ZE PAK Group in the process.
