PAK Kopalnia Węgla Brunatnego Konin S.A.

The Konin mine provides brown coal which is the cheapest raw material used for power generation in Pątnów I, Pątnów II and Konin power plants.

PAK Kopalnia Węgla Brunatnego Konin S.A. was established in 1945. During its existence it opened ten open pits. Currently three of them are still in operation. These are: Jóźwin, Drzewce and Tomisławice, the only Polish brown coal open pit opened after Poland's accession to the European Union.

The company conducts its mining operations with respect for the environment and in compliance with the most stringent Polish and EU regulations.

The applied open cast method requires large areas, but all former mining lands are reclaimed using techniques which perfectly reinstate their usage potential and enable further development. The reclamation takes place pursuant to arrangements with local governments and after the required administrative decisions have been granted.
